Point and shoot film cameras worth the hype

Social media made pocket cameras famous and their prices soared. Which ones earn it.

Written by Arch Club. Prices for these cameras move quickly, so we don't list them. Buy from a seller who tests and offers returns.

Worth it

I
Contax T2.A titanium body and a superb Zeiss 38mm lens. The luxury icon, and priced like one. Its electronics can't be easily repaired, so buy with a warranty.
II
Olympus Mju II (Stylus Epic).Tiny, weatherproof and a sharp 35mm f/2.8 lens. The best pocket camera for the money, though no longer cheap.
III
Yashica T4.A Zeiss lens in a plain plastic body. Beloved for sharp, contrasty pictures.
IV
Ricoh GR1.A slim magnesium body and an excellent 28mm lens. A favourite of street photographers.
V
Nikon 35Ti and 28Ti.Beautiful analogue dials on top and sharp Nikkor lenses.

Hidden gems

I
Konica Big Mini.Small, sharp and still sensibly priced.
II
Pentax 17.A new half-frame camera with a warranty. No vintage worries.
